We’ll Be Right Back After These Messages was inspired “during a death scroll of YouTube one night, I ended up coming upon The Arsenio Hall Show excerpts. A lot of these guests had some poignant things to say, and I started to wonder what if people from the 2000s, 1990s (guests I wanted on there), 2010s, and the like on there. I know the show had a sort of reboot in the 2010’s, but it wasn’t as impactful as the 90’s show.
I’d want to see Bernie Mac on there talking about House Party 3 and his burgeoning comedy career, Tessa Thompson speak about Sylvie’s Love and the meaning behind some of these scenes, Denzel and Spike speak about Mo Betta Blues, Eddie Murphy discuss Holy Man, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman discuss Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead and some of his challenges as an actor.
I imagine the topics they would approach or the movies clips that they would play as well as they’re interviewed would be along these lines.
A lot of the interviews broached topics of the 1990’s that I think are relevant today: Love, Career Changes, Following Your Dreams, Mentorship of the Youth, Fair Treatment of Black, etc. I merely just bring these topics to the contemporary eye.” – Thought Provokah
