Paying tribute to 80s sci-fi movies, The Scribes bring a new album curiously titled Mr Teatime & The End Of The World. Set in the year 2074, beyond the dramatic and catastrophic end of life on Earth as we know it, the bleak future of the human race falls on the shoulders of potentially its sole inhabitant.
Join him on a quest to find other survivors and to battle the robot uprising before it’s too late. Predominantly monotone vocals tell a strangely compelling first-person narrative set against a backdrop of raw, gritty, glitchy hip-hop beats that perfectly set a dystopian tone. Apparently, The Scribes boys recently ‘received’ an email from the future (2074 to be precise) courtesy of one ‘Mr Teatime’ who has survived a nuclear holocaust which, let’s face it, is a mixed blessing at best. Worse, ‘the machines’ have also survived.
“So we got this email, right, from this bloke called Mr Teatime, saying he was from the year 2074 or something. Came with this mad album of hip hop attached telling this proper mental story about him surviving the world’s end and battling robots and all this other stuff, plus a load of photos he called “Evidence” that he was telling the truth! I reckon he’s probably off his rocker to be honest, but he said if we release the material, he’ll cut us in on the profits, and times are hard, so here it is, for your enjoyment. See what you think, I reckon this “Mr Teatime” is bonkers, but even if he is, the music’s half decent!”
