A Tape Called Component System With the Auto Reverse is a “mixtape” concept with Open Mike Eagle putting together an album almsot as if it was recorded straight off the radio and onto a tape.
The album consists of snippets of archived radio interviews and commercials—lifted from mixtapes that Eagle made back in the late ’90s, while listening to hip-hop shows on Chicago college station WHPK—which bolsters the nostalgia as Mike reminisces on his career to this point.
