“All Ages might be suitably subtitled “A Child’s Introduction to Hip-Hop Production” (of the sample-based sort, anyway). Every sound on the album was sourced from either dusty children’s records (the foundation of my own musical journey) or from seminal breakbeats (the bedrock of hip-hop sonics).

My love of records began when I was a kid, and many of the LP’s my parents played me–superhero stories, fairy tales, silly songs and sing-alongs–are still in my collection.
