The Eminem Show is inspired by the Jim Carrey film The Truman Show. Eminem said his life felt like it was becoming a circus around that time, like he was always being watched. The album cover was inspired by the Andy Kaufman movie Man on the Moon, also starring Jim Carrey. “I wanted to use the same vibe,” he wrote, “onstage in front of everybody, but so lonely. Basically Jim Carrey wrote my album.”
