A Piece of Strange tells the tale of the pathway to and from sin. It “follows the story of a man and those closest to him in their struggles with right and wrong, love and hate, faith and sin.”

The album’s inspirations stemmed from the group’s desire to embrace their Southern roots more explicitly and to explore existential questions, personal struggles such as racism and poverty, and the theological tensions of the Bible Belt.
