Hiding Places revolves around the idea of “hiding places”—both literal and metaphorical—as spaces where one seeks safety, solace, or escape from external pressures and internal struggles. The “hiding places” concept is very prominent and cohesive throughout the entire album. All the way until the outro, it’s so easy to follow the whole hiding places concept.

“Let’s see who gives who a place to hide” “I was in the ceilin’ when they swept the buildin’. I kept my head down when the cops came for the children”… yet another one of the many hiding places billy mentions on this record. This is even reflected on the cover itself. The album cover is a photograph of the William Livingstone House in Detroit and serves as one of the themes the album discusses how hiding from your past is impossible.
