Pomegranate

Pomegranate

Astronautalis

2008

Pomegranate waxes poetic on the art of storytelling and plays out like a collection of short stories. The album’s title is a nod to the Greek myth of Persephone. One song he raps as a member of a family of con artists. The Case of William Smith, Astronautalis chronicles the narrative of the titular professor, who was accused of heresy for studying theology without taking the Bible as literally true.

The first song of Pomegranate tells of a son who’s seemingly killed his two brothers, and ran off, tricking women and blaming his father for how awful he is. “Mr. Blessington” who works at an office, gathering information, dirt, and illicit activities about his co-workers in order to destroy them.
