The Great Adventures of Slick Rick is a classic that deserves to be heard on its historical value to the genre of hip hop alone, but unlike some of the other rap concept albums from 1988 that can be tough to stomach, Great Adventures manages to transcend it. 

With pretty minimal production, Slick Rick manages to paint a vivid picture of this fictionalized version of Slick Rick and his clearly fabricated escapades. Some tracks do NOT stand the test of time, like the album-open Treat Her Like A Prostitute, but Rick hits the ground running in this ambitious debut. Children’s Story is an alltimer.
