With twenty-five songs spanning a little over a half-hour, the concept for Forest Agates is billed as “an archetypal journey through a forest peopled by strange beings.” Deca himself states:

“Agates have these otherworldly mandala-like patterns that I can look at for hours. They can mean something different to you symbolically every time you look at them.

They’re like human souls, or the patterns created by a person’s experiences throughout a lifetime, or microcosms of the universe, or like songs; how the song moves, the rhythm, the transitions, the re-occurrences and slight variations, the emotion behind it, the colors the sounds create, etc. So that’s the idea with this album. Each song is an agate. I imagine finding these things. Rather than make them, I stumble across them on my way through the forest.”
